Maturing in your Self-Identity
Part I: Self-Esteem
You do not automatically believe in yourself at birth.
Your self confidence needs to grow and mature parallel to your physical, mental and spiritual growth.
Unfortunately many don’t achieve this type of balanced growth, instead reaching adulthood and physical maturity with the self confidence of a child.
You were not born with the personal confidence to face life.
Self confidence is something that needs to grow stronger from within and is built on successes in interpersonal relationships.
The different parts that make up our total inner being are ancient in design and each individual part needs to grow and mature. Also be aware that doing stuff for people to make them like you is called manipulation. You are already wonderful, good and acceptable just the way you are.
Being aware of the motivation behind your behaviour is all part of growing in self identity.
What you think and believe about who you are shapes how you behave.
Check that what you do and say is coming out of your care for those around you and not from your desire to manipulate people into liking you. Being liked is very important but genuine, true friends will accept and respect you for who you are, not just for what you will or will not do for them.
